You can say the world is back to normal (ish). Zoom burnout is a real thing and trying to figure out what to cook and ways to entertain the kids every night is exhausting. Thankfully, while the world is still trying to figure itself out, we can pack up the kids and venture outdoors.
Below, I highlight my list of 10 delicious family-friendly outdoor restaurants in the Miami area, so get to packin’ and let’s leave the cooking to someone else.
Some are popular family restaurants that you may already know, but others are hidden gems that, as a local resident, my family and I enjoy!
… and if you’re looking for some kid-friendly entertainment in the comfort of your own home, check us out here. We’d love to jam with you!
1. Glass and Vine
This mainly outdoor eatery is centrally located in Coconut Grove’s Peacock Park adjacent to a playground, making it the perfect spot to take the kiddos and let them run free while mom and dad dine on dishes like charred cauliflower, glazed pork belly and carbonara-topped fries.
2. Ms. Cheezious
Since it’s a well-known fact that kids of all ages (re: young ones and parents) adore the perennial favorite grilled cheese sandwich. Plus, there is a large backyard patio that is perfect for kids to run around in while not disturbing their neighbors.
3. Zak the baker
We would be remiss to not mention this well known delicious bakery located in the heart of Wynwood. There’s a reason why you can now find some of Zak’s delicious baked goods at Whole Foods Market. Serving delicious treats for the whole family to enjoy-it’s also an added plus to be able to walk around the neighborhood and take in the beautiful art work that live on Wynwood Walls (and maybe try to sneak in a family photo shoot if you’re lucky).
4. Red Rooster Overtown
Red Rooster is fun restaurant vibrantly decorated paying homage to the history of the Overtown community it’s located in. Red Rooster has outdoor seating that makes you feel like you are in a tropical paradise (we are in Miami after all!) and even comes with a DJ (so mommy and daddy can reminisce on their clubbing days) and an ice cream parlor next door for the kids (and let’s face it -for the parents) to enjoy as well.
5. The Berry Farms
The Berry Farms has been a staple in the Redlands Community for the past 60 years. It’s a great place to spend the day picking strawberries, taking selfies for insta (let’s face it, people wanna know momma’s still got it) and shopping local produce. With a brand new playground added, hayrides and a bounce pad there’s much for your little ones to enjoy.
6. Verde
This location is simply unbeatable! I mean, the view alone makes parents alike feel as if they are on a romantic getaway…almost. This family friendly restaurant is located in Perez Art Museum Miami and you don’t need to buy a ticket to visit the museum in order to dine at Verde. The open space also has really cool swings facing the water to entertain your children while they wait for the food to come.
7. Mister O1 Extraordinary Pizza
Mister O1 Extraordinay Pizza’s slogan is “We are that famous hidden place” and it’s so true! It does take one redirection to finally get there but oh boy once you’ve arrived- you’ve arrived! As you can see in the photo below, Mister 01’s Extraordinary thin slice cheese pizza is a crowd pleaser in my family. It’s the pizza my boys can’t get enough of. Had to buy two pies..seriously! They kept asking for more. There’s also plenty of outdoor seating and space for stroller parking as well.
8. The Wharf
By day, this 30,000-square foot riverside station makes for the perfect family-friendly afternoon outing. With a carnival-like atmosphere, little ones will get a kick out of lawn games such as cornhole and ping pong, along with the live acts featured weekly.
9. The Big Cheese Miami
A Miami Landmark… and for a reason! Whenever my family dines here we are always treated like family. The boys love the pizza and chicken tenders as much as they love the coloring paper and crayons The Big Cheese provides for kiddos.
10. El Palacio de los Jugos
El Palacio de los Jugos has been serving the Miami community since 1977. There’s a reason why this delicious Cuban Cuisine is here to stay. This brightly colored restaurant is a reflection of the friendly environment and colorful homemade batidos (smoothies) and jugos (juices) for the whole family to enjoy. With plenty of outdoor seating for your family and ample stroller parking as well.
How did we do, miss any of your family’s go-to spots? If you visit one of these restaurants we want to hear from you! Tag us on social and share your experience. We’re all about making new friends and expanding our community at Jam with Jamie 🥳
