Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that can easily slip by for us busy parents.
I find if you can grab gifts and a few decor supplies the first few days of February, you can pull it off without much planning.
I also love a good element of SURPRISE. Especially, for your significant other.
Have you tried a “Surprise Date Night” before? Plan the evening and don’t tell your partner where you’re headed!
Feel like a lot to pull off? I got you, mama. Here are my tips for a unique Valentines Date Night:
If the babysitter can’t make it, get massages at home after the kids are asleep and order in (extra special – check out Goldbelly.com for nostalgic restaurants that aren’t in your city)
See what’s happening around you. A simple search of “(insert city) Valentine’s Day Events” will open up a lot of ideas that aren’t typical date night options.
Think back to a date you once had that felt like magic and recreate it.
You know I’m going to suggest to add in music somehow! Play that favorite love song, see a concert, go into your car, put the seats down and listen to a curated soundtrack of your favorite love songs while looking at the stars through your sunroof with a bowl of popcorn.
It doesn’t have to be an all out night to be special!
For the kids, I like to do a Morning Valentine’s Breakfast. Again, You do not have to be the quintessential Pinterest mom to execute this one, I have my moments but most the time I’m a frozen waffle and Gogurt gal. Add a little basket with some treats for your kid(s) at the breakfast table (think $1-3 at target trinkets) and decorate the table with chocolate kisses. Grab some balloons (Walgreens usually has them!) to add to your tablescape and call it a day. Nothing too fancy, but a little something different than the usual rush to get dressed and out the door is fun.
