Hey there, party people! It’s your go-to kids’ birthday party guru, Jamie, here to share my absolute favorite places to take little ones in sunny Miami. In Miami, every day feels like a celebration – and I am so grateful to be raising my family here! Here’s where you can typically find us:
State of Kid – I LOVE State of Kid for its all-around support from pregnancy to playtime. State of Kid offers prenatal classes, mommy & me activities, and engaging programs for kids up to age five – AND they have the best curated collection of stylish clothing, décor, and gifts for little ones – it’s truly a one-stop-shop for parents. They have three central locations to choose from.
Miami Children’s Museum – No visit to Miami with kids would be complete without a trip to Miami Children’s Museum. It’s a place where learning feels like play, and every visit is filled with laughter and discovery. My kids love their interactive exhibits and hands-on activities.
Frost Museum – Another museum not to be missed is the Frost Museum. The aquarium here is amazing – even I get captivated by it! Watching my little one’s faces light up as they explore and interact with the marine animals makes every trip here a memorable one. I love that coming here helps foster a deep appreciation for the beauty and importance of our oceans and the animals that live in them.
Crandon Park Beach – Another amazing beach spot, where I have spent many family fun days! Crandon Park Beach is a free beach that is great for families – with amenities such as picnic areas and playgrounds, and a shallow shoreline that is perfect for the little ones. And if picnics in the sand aren’t your jam, just take a short 6-minute drive over to The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne for a delicious meal with the whole family. Sir Pizza is another great spot right down the road and a personal favorite.
Superblue Museum – The Superblue Museum is an absolute delight for our family. It’s like stepping into a whimsical wonderland where art comes to life in the most interactive and mesmerizing of ways. From immersive installations that ignite imagination to engaging sensory experiences, every visit here is the perfect blend of entertainment and education.
Pinecrest Gardens – Pinecrest Gardens has an incredible playground and water splash pad for the little ones. My favorite day of the week to stop by here is Sundays for the best farmer’s market filled with the most delicious and fresh produce. Combined with the lush greenery, trees, and flowery garden, it makes for the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. And – if you want something a bit more low-key, Pinecrest Community Center is right next door and has another playground and a café!
Sunset Place – The Shops at Sunset Place is an old school favorite. On a day where I am not sure what to do and have to kill time, I bring the kids to Gametime, Just for Fun, or Color Me Mine! We also love going to the movie theater here – easy, fun and always a good time!
The Berry Farm – The Berry Farm is an incredible destination for a family fun day. They have hay rides and hay stacks to climb on, a pit filled with corn seeds for kids to roll around in, amazing food and delicious produce, one of the best ropes courses I’ve ever seen and playgrounds made with ships to explore- they have it all! They also regularly host family-friendly activities and events around all the holidays, with live music and curated experiences. Definitely off the beaten path from a typical Miami day!
Matheson Hammock Park – One of my favorite spots to bring the kids in Miami! Matheson Hammock is nestled on a peninsula extending into Biscayne Bay.. The park features various landscapes – including mangroves and hardwood forests, leading to a stunning cove overlooking Biscayne Bay. My favorite part is the calm waters which are perfect for families with young children. The north end of the park has a marina with water activities and dining, as well as coral rock pavilions, picnic areas, nature trails, and a playground. There’s also an amazing restaurant to go to after a day at the beach, Noma Beach at Redfish Grill.
Wynwood – Talk about an explosion of art, food and fun! Wynwood offers a fun and hip atmosphere that is both educational and entertaining for families with kids. The Wynwood Walls feature large-scale art by some of the world’s best-known street artists. Checking out all the cool art is a really fun way for kids to learn about how people express themselves in unique ways, and maybe even inspire them to try making their own art, too! Pack a sketch pad and some crayons and once you’ve finished looking at the murals, head on over to one of the surrounding craft breweries or nearby funky bistros for some family coloring and a great meal! Also, don’t forget to check out Zak the Baker for good eats!
Coconut Grove – Ok, I might have saved the best for last! Coconut Grove has SO much that I dedicated an entire blog post to it already – but I can’t help but rave about the vibrant atmosphere and eclectic charm that makes it a favorite destination among families. From the lively streets filled with boutique shops and delicious eateries to the stunning waterfront views along the marina, there’s always something new and exciting to discover here. And of course, no trip to Coconut Grove is complete without indulging in one of AC’s Icee’s frozen lemonades, a beloved local treat that never fails to delight both kids and adults alike.
And that’s a wrap on our whirlwind tour of sunny Miami. We’ve covered everything from the awesome happenings at State of Kid to the mind-blowing wonders of Superblue Museum, and all the way to the charming allure of Coconut Grove. Miami truly has it all! Whether you’re splashing at the beach, exploring museums, admiring art, or simply enjoying the great outdoors, there’s no shortage of family fun in this city. So, next time you’re planning a day out with the little ones, make sure you keep these fantastic spots in mind.
Until next time my friends, stay jammin’ and keep those smiles shining bright!
